NPGA has established a legal action fund to proactively combat recent government restrictions on gas equipment. Ongoing legal battles that have put a strain on the propane industry led the NPGA Executive Committee to devote significant, long-term resources to advocating for the industry's interests.

New York (Oct. 12, 2023) — Reichman Jorgensen Lehman & Feldberg LLP (RJLF) has filed suit on behalf of a coalition of businesses and workers challenging the New York State ban on gas appliances and infrastructure in most newly constructed buildings beginning Dec. 31, 2025.

Canada's primary underground propane inventories increased by 8.17% in October, according to the Canada Energy Regulator. The total represented a month-to-month increase of 135.3 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were lower, with 47.7 Mcm, or 2.59%, less product on hand.

During the latest mid-month period, prices at Mont Belvieu, Texas, decreased as we head deeper into fall. The posted prices decreased 7.667 cents/gal, from September mid-month to October mid-month, and the spot prices decreased 8.75 cents. Conway, Kan., postings decreased 8.874 cents/gal, and spots decreased 10.5 cents over the month.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed landmark legislation, Assembly Bill 1172, on October 7, 2023.

Zionsville, Ind. (Oct. 10, 2023) — Zionsville Community Schools is now operating 33 new propane school buses that are 90% cleaner than the current Environmental Protection Agency’s standard for nitrogen oxides.

The fast-growing suburban public school district, which is located outside of Indianapolis, currently serves 8,000 students across nine campuses. To keep up with the community’s growth, the district increased bus routes using an alternative fuel that it knows and trusts: propane autogas.

Dover, Del. (Oct. 11, 2023) — Chesapeake Utilities Corporation announced its designation as a 2023 Champion of Board Diversity by the Forum of Executive Women, joining other companies such as Campbell Soup Company, DuPont de Nemours, Rite Aid and WSFS Financial. In collaboration with PwC, the Forum reviews companies in the Philadelphia region that support the advancement of women leaders in corporate boardrooms and executive suites. Each year, the Forum of Executive Women honors the top public companies in the region with 30% or more women on their respective boards.

Craig Garner has joined Emerson as the Fisher LP-Gas Equipment sales manager for North America. In this role, Craig will be responsible for growing LPG/propane and other pressurized gas product sales in North America.

NEW MILFORD, Conn. (Oct. 5, 2023) — Cetane Associates is pleased to announce that Sail Energy LLC, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, has acquired tangible and intangible assets related to the full-service heating fuels and propane delivery business of Blanchard’s Cash Fuel Inc., a Maine corporation. The transaction was completed on Sept. 30, 2023.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2023) — Palmdale Oil, a provider of fuels, lubricants, and chemicals with delivery solutions across the state of Florida, announced it has acquired Como Oil & Propane of Florida, a Florida-based, full-service fuel and propane distributor. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

LONDON (Oct. 3, 2023) — Global energy and commodity price reporting agency Argus has launched European biopropane prices, completing its suite of prices covering the fast-expanding European market for hydrotreated biofuels.

Hydrotreating animal and vegetable fats is a relatively recent refining technology that enables sustainable biofuel feedstocks such as vegetable and waste oils and animal fats to be converted into fuels that can substitute for conventional hydrocarbon-derived oil products.
