Canada's primary underground propane inventories increased by 6.2% in September, according to the Canada Energy Regulator. The total represented a month-to-month increase of 98 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were higher, with 15.5 Mcm, or 0.9%, more product on hand.
Propane storages in the West started September a bit higher at 1149.6 Mcm, which corresponds to 7.2 MMbbl, the agency reported. From August to September, volumes increased by 16.5 Mcm, or 1.5%, and were 137 Mcm more the year prior's level of 1012.6 Mcm.

Last week, the Western Propane Gas Association (WPGA) filed a lawsuit in state court against the California Air Resources Board (CARB) in regards to the agency’s Zero-Emission Forklift Rulemaking, which was approved in June. This new CARB regulation will prohibit the production and sale of large, spark-ignited (LSI) forklifts for the California market, and require the early retirement of LSI forklifts currently in operation. Both the ban on new sales and the early retirement mandate will affect propane-powered forklifts and the businesses who rely on them.
