ISLE OF PALMS, SC — The Southeast Propane Alliance (SEPA) held its Annual Convention in Isle of Palms, S.C., from June 9 to 11, 2024. Almost 300 members attended the event to receive industry updates from dignitaries like Tucker Perkins, president and CEO of the Propane Education & Research Council and Tom Van Buren, chairman of the National Propane Gas Association. The attendees also participated in various committee meetings related to propane and recognized several peers for their outstanding contributions.

(June 11, 2024) — Cetane Associates (Cetane) has announced that Breckenridge Capital LLC (Breckenridge), a Texas limited liability company, has acquired the full-service propane delivery business of Knight Propane, Inc. (Knight Propane) located in Weatherford, Texas. The transaction closed on May 31, 2024.

OPW has named Chuck Liebal as the new General Manager of OPW Propane Energy Solutions to integrate RegO Products brands. This follows OPW's division into two units: OPW PES for LPG markets and OPW CES for cryogenics, hydrogen and LNG markets, led by Chad Thomas.

RICHMOND, Va. — June 6, 2024 — In round three of the Environmental Protect Agency's (EPA) Clean School Bus Program funding, more than $6.7 million has been allocated for the purchase of clean propane autogas buses. Fifty-eight districts have been tentatively selected to receive a total of 269 propane autogas buses to replace the nation’s aging, dirty diesel buses. For every propane autogas bus purchased as part of the Clean School Bus program, the EPA will provide transportation directors with up to $30,000.

Washington, D.C. (June 6, 2024) — As part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced six awards, totaling approximately $45 million, from the Energy Efficiency Revolving Loan Fund Capitalization Grant (RLF) Program. The Program, supported by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, provides funds that allows states and territories to provide loans and grants to residents for energy efficiency audits, upgrades, and retrofits.

WASHINGTON — (May 30, 2024) — Broward County Transit’s (BCT) dedication to its residents was recognized this week after receiving the Energy for Everyone Hero award from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC). The national non-profit organization, which promotes clean energy initiatives, honored BCT with the award for operating an affordable and near-zero emissions propane autogas paratransit fleet. Coree Cuff Lonergan, the general manager and director of transportation for BCT, accepted the award during a celebration event for the transit agency.

NEW MILFORD, Conn. — May 22, 2024 — Cetane Associates has announced that an undisclosed buyer has acquired the propane assets related to Shoshone Propane Inc. (“Shoshone Propane”), a full-service propane business located in Pahrump, Nevada. The transaction closed on May 2, 2024. 

Canada's primary underground propane inventories increased by 24.7% in May, Canada Energy Regulator (CER). The total represented a month-to-month increase of 177.7 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were higher, with 179 Mcm, or 25%, more product on hand.

Propane storages in the West started May higher at 685.9 Mcm, which corresponds to 4.3 MMbbl, the agency reported. From April to May, volumes increased by 138.6 Mcm, or 25.3%, and were 210.7 more the year prior's level of 475.2 Mcm.

During the latest mid-month period, prices at Mont Belvieu, Texas, decreased. The posted prices decreased 10.5 cents/gal, from April mid-month to May mid-month, and the spot prices decreased 11 cents. Conway, Kansas, postings increased 8.7 cents/gal, and spots decreased 8 cents over the month.

Prairie Hills Transit will showcase its new low-emission buses equipped with advanced propane autogas technology. Attendees will have the opportunity to view a fuel demonstration and ride in one of the new propane buses. 

The event highlights a shift in the transit industry away from diesel and gasoline toward buses powered by environmentally friendly alternative fuels. Vehicles that run on propane autogas emit fewer greenhouse gases, smog-producing hydrocarbons, and particulate emissions than conventional fuels.
