Beverly, Mass — KROHNE, manufacturer and supplier of solutions in industrial process instrumentation, announces that PRO-QUIP Inc., with its headquarters in Kenilworth, New Jersey, is KROHNE’s regional manufacturer’s representative covering the process industries in the greater New York City region, New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Washington D.C. as of Dec. 1, 2022.

PRO-QUIP is replacing Stover Sensor Controls and Jobe & Company as KROHNE’s representative in the area.

Industry leaders from across the region gathered in January for a Midwest Propane Summit, held at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri. The event brought together more than 30 representatives from state associations, propane marketers and industry suppliers. The attendees came from Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma to discuss opportunities, challenges and best practices. Joining the event as participants were Tucker Perkins, president and CEO of PERC, and Stuart Weidie, PERC chairman.

NATIONAL (Jan. 20, 2023) — On Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, the New York Times published an article with claims that the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has been misusing funds as laid out by the Propane Education and Research Act (PERA) of 1996 that established the council. The article alleged that PERC is spending money outside of the bounds of PERA by investing in a widespread, pro-propane marketing campaign.

During the latest mid-month period, prices at Mont Belvieu, Texas, increased as we hit the mid-winter. The posted prices increased 9 cents/gal, from December mid-month to January mid-month while the spot prices increased 14 cents. Conway, Kan., postings ended with a 5.5-cent increase and spots increased 8.5 cents over the month.

NATIONAL — The United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) expects global consumption of liquid fuels, such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, to set new record highs in 2024.

According to EIA’s January "Short-Term Energy Outlook" (STEO), global liquid fuel consumption will exceed 100 million barrels per day, on average, in 2023 for the first time since 2019, then average more than 102 million barrels per day in 2024.
