Canada's primary underground propane inventories decreased by 4.2% in November, according to the Canada Energy Regulator. The total represented a month-to-month decrease of 68.9 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were lower, with 233.2 Mcm, or 12.8%, less product on hand.
Propane storages in the West started November a bit lower at 1089.7 Mcm, which corresponds to 6.9 MMbbl, the agency reported. From October to November, volumes decreased by 24.8 Mcm, or 2.2%, and were 48.3 Mcm less the year prior's level of 1138.0 Mcm.
Propane storages in the East started November lower at 496.9 Mcm, commensurate with 3.1 MMbbl. This loss put propane 44.2 Mcm, or 8.2%, lower for the month, with a decrease of 185 Mcm, or 27.1%, below a year earlier.
Canadian butane inventories stood at 988.7 Mcm at the beginning of November, for a decrease of 116.3 Mcm, or 10.5%, from October. Like propane, the year-over-year comparison finds butane volumes to be lower than the prior year's total, with inventories 21.6 Mcm, or 2.1%, below 2023.
Western butane supplies, at 449.2 Mcm, were lower by 77 Mcm, or 14.6%, from the previous months and were 96.4 Mcm, or 17.7%, less than last year. Eastern butane, at 539.5 Mcm, was 39.3 Mcm, or 6.8%, lower month over month, and totaled 74.8 Mcm, or 16.1%, above a year earlier.
