Paris (July 24, 2025) — The Women in LPG Global Network (WINLPG) announced the launch of its latest national chapter, WINLPG Cameroon. This latest national chapter was launched during the 2025 Central Africa LPG Summit in Yaoundé, Cameroon, under the patronage of Cameroon Minister of Women Empowerment and the Family, professor Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa. Ondoa was joined by Alison Abbott, cofounder of WINLPG and WLGA communications director, for the event. Also present was Cameroon Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, demonstrating the importance of this initiative to the Cameroon government and industry.

WINLPG plays a vital role in transforming an industry traditionally dominated by men by encouraging the active participation of women at all levels, from field operations to leadership roles. The network was launched by the World Liquid Gas Association in 2015; this year, WINLPG celebrates 10 years of supporting and promoting women in the liquid gas industry.

The importance of WINLPG lies in its mission to empower women, provide networking opportunities and share success stories that inspire others. By fostering a more inclusive environment, WINLPG helps improve innovation, performance and decision-making within companies. Since its inception, WINLPG has championed diversity, inspired leadership and fostered a global network of talented professionals. Over the past decade, the network has built lasting connections and driven meaningful change across the energy sector. WINLPG stated this is a testament to the strength, passion and resilience of its members and partners worldwide.

WINLPG operates via national chapters, which serve as localized platforms under the Global WINLPG initiative. They support the unique needs and challenges faced by women in different countries. There are now 15 national chapters around the world. By addressing country-specific barriers such as cultural norms, access to education and professional advancement, national chapters play a strategic role in driving inclusivity from the grassroots level.

In its press release, WINLPG stated, "We are delighted and honored to welcome Cameroon to this prestigious network, which also includes African national chapters in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and Morocco. WINLPG Cameroon will bring fresh perspectives, energy and commitment to advancing the role of women in the sector. By joining this vibrant global community, Cameroon strengthens the collective voice advocating for equal opportunities and leadership for women in energy. We look forward to collaborating, sharing experiences and driving impactful change together."
