Canada's primary underground propane inventories increased by 45.1% in June, according to the Canada Energy Regulator. The total represented a month-to-month increase of 241.7 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were lower, with 220.4 Mcm, or 22.1%, less product on hand.

Propane storages in the West started June higher at 557.6 Mcm, which corresponds to 3.513 MMbbl, the agency reported. From May to June, volumes increased by 145 Mcm, or 35.1%, and were 215.8 Mcm less the year prior's level of 773.4 Mcm.

Propane storages in the East started June higher at 219.5, commensurate with 1.383 MMbbl. This gain put propane 96.7 Mcm, or 78.7%, higher for the month, with a decrease of 4.6 Mcm, or 2.1% below a year earlier.

Canadian butane inventories stood at 914.6 Mcm at the beginning of June, for an increase of 233.7 Mcm, or 34.3%, from May. Unlike propane, the year-over-year comparison finds butane volumes to be higher than the prior year's total, with inventories 242.2 Mcm, or 36%, above 2024.

Western butane supplies, at 573.7 Mcm, were higher by 106 Mcm, or 22.7%, from the previous months and were 114.3 Mcm, or 24.9%, more than last year. Eastern butane, at 340.9 Mcm, was 127.7 Mcm, or 59.9%, higher month over month, and totaled 127.9 Mcm, or 60%, above a year earlier.
