The October 2025 Canadian propane inventories increased by 0.3% from September, according to the Canada Energy Regulator. The total represented a month-to-month increase of 4.2 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were lower, with 52.3 Mcm, or 3.2%, less product on hand.
Propane storages in the West started October a bit higher at 1117 Mcm, which corresponds to 7.037 MMbbl, the agency reported. From September to October, volumes increased by 19.2 Mcm, or 1.8%, and were 2.5 Mcm, or 0.2%, more the year prior's level of 1114.5 Mcm.
Propane storages in the East started October lower at 486.3 Mcm, commensurate with 3.064 MMbbl. This loss put propane 15 Mcm, or 3%, lower for the month, with a decrease of 54.8 Mcm, or 10.1% below a year earlier.
Canadian butane inventories stood at 1327.6 Mcm at the beginning of October, for a decrease of 144.1 Mcm, or 9.8%, from September. Unlike propane, the year-over-year comparison finds butane volumes to be higher than the prior year's total, with inventories 222.6 Mcm, or 20.1%, above 2024.
Western butane supplies, at 794.8 Mcm, were lower by 93 Mcm, or 10.5%, from the previous months and were 268.6 Mcm, or 51.1%, more than last year. Eastern butane, at 532.7 Mcm, was 51.2 Mcm, or 8.8%, lower month over month, and totaled 46.1 Mcm, or 8%, below a year earlier.
