More appliances, new appliances, and a larger space in which to display and demonstrate them — those are some of the benefits Conger LP Gas (Tifton, Ga.) is enjoying after moving its home office into a larger facility.

After 29 years in a 1500-sq-ft building, the company moved its home office into an 8000-sq-ft structure that offers more office space, more warehouse space, and a 1200-sq-ft showroom.

“The size of just our new showroom is nearly as large as the size of the previous whole building,” Kirsten McAlpin, communications director at Conger LP Gas, told BPN.

The home office in Tifton is one of three locations Conger LP Gas has in South Georgia. From them, the company sells propane and sells, installs, and services all types of gas appliances.

“Our president and CEO Dan Richardson has had a vision for a while to do this,” McAlpin said of the move to the larger facility. “Our company has grown so much over the years in the number of employees and service area. It was time for a new space; every company wants to grow.”

Conger Gas Opens New Location with Showroom, Demo Kitchen, Propane Appliances, reports BPN, Feb. 2019Conger LP Gas celebrated this expansion and shared the new space with customers in a grand opening held Dec. 6 and 7, 2018. During the two-day event, homeowners, plumbers, and others were given tours of the new space and a number of other attractions.

The new location’s showroom features complete fireplaces and gas log sets, Holland grills, and a Rinnai tankless water heater display. The tankless water heater display is interactive; Conger LP Gas has incorporated Amazon Alexa, so, “If you say her name and say, ‘Start the hot water,’ it will start,” McAlpin explained.

“With our new showroom, we are able to make everything look like what it would look like in a house,” McAlpin said. “People can come in and envision what it would look like in their home.”

With the larger space, Conger LP Gas has also expanded its product lines. The company now offers a wider variety of grills and has added products it didn’t previously offer: cooktops, free-standing ranges, and washer/dryer sets. “The dryers are gas; we have the washers too because, of course, people like to buy these in sets,” McAlpin said.

The new location also features a classroom-style demonstration kitchen with Wolf and SubZero appliances. Conger LP Gas is not going to sell those appliances; this serves as a showroom for another retailer that is located a 1-1/2-hour drive away. Conger LP Gas will hold cooking classes and other events in the kitchen; the company already hosted its Christmas party there.

During the grand opening, the demonstration kitchen was the site of “Cooking with Lauri Jo,” a two-hour cooking demonstration by Lauri Jo Bennett of Lauri Jo’s Southern Style Canning. Her products are sold in specialty retail stores and gift shops across the U.S.— and in the Conger LP Gas showroom.

Conger LP Gas is working with chefs to schedule additional cooking demonstrations. “People are already asking, ‘When is the next one?’” McAlpin told BPN.

Outside, a grilling demonstration was hosted by Hugh Hardy of Carroll’s Sausage & Country Store. Carroll’s products, too, are available in the Conger LP Gas showroom.

The two-day grand opening event also featured cylinder fill specials, a generator sale, door prizes, and free lunches. Attendees could talk with vendor representatives from Kohler, RH Peterson, Rinnai, Sunbelt Marketing, and The Holland Grill. In addition, Rinnai hosted a training class for plumbers focusing on tankless water heaters. The grand opening was covered by local media WALB (TV), B100 (radio), and The Tifton Gazette (newspaper).

“We guesstimate there were 800 people at the event over the two days,” McAlpin told BPN after the gathering. “That’s huge for Tifton, Ga. It was humbling to see how many people came out to support us.” —Steve Relyea
