Reese Moore, CEO at Mopeka Products LLC
BPN 2025 Industry Innovators Finalist

“I have always been in product design,” says Reese Moore, CEO at Mopeka Products LLC. Reese started his career in the automotive and marine industries, working for large, publicly traded companies.

“Following that, I got into the propane industry, doing design and production support of propane regulators and similar,” Reese explains. “And just prior to starting Mopeka, I was involved in some high-tech electro-mechanical gaseous fuel controllers for heavy-duty engines running [liquefied petroleum gas] and [natural gas].”

Reese was recommended for inclusion in the Class of 2025 Industry Innovators due to his visionary leadership, allowing Mopeka to become a global leader in tank and cathodic protection monitoring solutions.

“His relentless commitment to innovation has transformed how the propane and broader energy industries manage critical liquid commodities like propane, butane, anhydrous, ammonia and water,” the nomination stated. “Mopeka’s solutions — driven by award-winning sonar technology, intuitive mobile apps and powerful cloud-based platforms — have reshaped expectations for real-time visibility, accuracy and safety across the supply chain. These technologies not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to environmental responsibility and customer service.”

Mopeka is grounded in a culture of innovation that Reese has carefully cultivated. His leadership has overseen four successful patent grants (with 11 pending applications), the launching of the Cathodic Sentinal for underground tank cathodic protection monitoring, the success of the company’s Bluetooth and cellular tank sensors, and a growing number of sensor deployments in its B2B and B2C markets.

“To me, innovation isn’t about blue-sky thinking or waiting for a lightning bolt of genius,” Reese shares. “It’s about observation — staying close to the customer and tuned into the real world. Over time, I’ve learned the best ideas don’t come from inside a whiteboard session. They come from watching where people struggle. Every frustration, every workaround, every time someone says, ‘There’s got to be a better way’ — that’s where innovation begins.”

Reese believes that Mopeka has built its successful products simply by paying attention.

“I used to spend too much time trying to invent the next big thing out of thin air,” he says. “But once I shifted to listening — really listening — to our customers and partners, it became clear: They were already telling me what needed to be built.”

Reese also stresses the importance of collaboration with other industry companies. “Collaboration is at the core of everything we do at Mopeka. I don’t believe innovation happens in isolation. It happens when you’re out there in the field, listening to customers, sitting across the table from partners and asking the right questions.”
