Prior owner of Yankee Propane Inc. and Virginia Propane Inc., Ken Koeller, passed away on April 14, 2022, at the age of 90. Along with his future son-in-law, Peter Guerci, Ken started Yankee Propane in 1989 in Florida, New York, expanding propane operations in the Hudson Valley region of New York and northern New Jersey.
In 1994, Ken repeated the propane start-up strategy with his other son-in-law, Ronald Mitchell, by starting Virginia Propane in Ashland, Virginia. Both businesses were sold in 2017.
Ken was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and generosity by his significant support of numerous local charities. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Karen Mitchell and Patti Guerci; and 12 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, in addition to two great-grandchildren.
