During the latest mid-month period, posted prices at Mont Belvieu continued to slide as we get further from winter. The posted prices dropped 11.333 cents/gal., while the spot prices slipped 10.875 cents. Conway, Kan., postings ended with a 17.100-cent fall and spots dipped 10.375 cents over the month.
The Mont Belvieu mid-March posted price, 101.339 cents/gal., came in 21.167 cents lower than mid-February’s 122.506 cents, and 57.999 cents higher than the year earlier price of 43.340 cents. The next week the price slid by 1.833 cents to 99.506 cents, followed by an increase to 103.172 cents in the first week of April. Prices then slid 1.500 cents to land at 101.672 in the second week of the month. At mid-month, postings slid another 11.666 cents to land at 90.006 cents/gal.
The Conway, Kan., mid-March posted price, 96.247 cents/gal., began the period 92.900 cents below mid-February’s price of 189.147 cents. Compared to the same time in 2020, the 2021 prices were 60.025 cents higher. The next week, the price fell 4.650 cents to 91.597 cents, followed by a 1.200-cent rise to 92.797 cents in the first week of April. The following weeks saw prices reduced to 88.597 cents, and again to 79.147 cents to end the mid-April period.
Mont Belvieu spot propane opened the mid-March period at 88.500-89.500 cents/gal., 11.500 cents below the previous month’s price, and 54.000 cents above a year ago. The next week, prices slipped 1.125 cents to 87.375-88.000 cents. The prices changed direction to bounce up to 94.500-96.000 cents in the first week of April. The second week saw a 9.500-cent decline that pulled spots down to 85.000-87.500 cents. Mid-month saw another dip, losing 7.375 cents to 77.625-78.250 cents.
Conway spots opened mid-month at 82.000-84.250 cents, 48.500 cents lower than a month earlier, and 53.500 cents higher than a year ago. The following week saw a 2.500-cent decline to 79.500-81.000 cents, and then a 3.500-cent rise to 83.000-84.750 cents in the first week of April. Prices then moved lower, sliding 6.000 cents to 77.000-78.000 cents in the second week of April. At mid-month period, they slid again, closing 5.375 cents lower at 71.625-72.250 cents/gal.
