Carmichael Propane Acquired by Chicago-based Energy Distribution Partners. Butane Propane News (BPN) the propane industry's leading source for news and information since 1939.

Carmichael Propane is a well-established and respected propane service provider started in 1969 by Randy’s father, Ray Carmichael. The business services nearly 3,000 customers in Berkley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester counties which are adjacent to the service territory of EDP’s recently acquired Carolina Propane operation.

According to Randy Carmichael, “I was ready to retire but wanted to ensure my employees would not only be able to keep their jobs but have the chance to work for a quality company that would provide both a generous benefits package and career opportunities. I also wanted to ensure that our customers would continue to receive the kind of personal customer service they’ve come to expect from my team over the years. I was pleasantly surprised how easy the EDP team was to work with, from due diligence to post closing integration. Just a great group of people.”

Tom Knauff, Energy Distribution Partners CEO, stated, “Randy Carmichael has run an excellent operation and Carmichael Propane has established a reputation for providing superior customer service. We are delighted to have Carmichael Propane join EDP. We welcome the Carmichael employees and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional service to customers across their service area.”
