The United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) expects higher wholesale electricity prices this winter in every region of the country.

According to EIA’s December "Short-Term Energy Outlook" (STEO), the increase in wholesale winter electricity prices ranges from 33% higher in California to more than 60% higher in the mid-Atlantic and Central regions.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Dec. 6, 2022) — CHS Inc. owners elected five board members to three-year terms during the cooperative's 2022 annual meeting held December 1 and 2 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Energy Distribution Partners (EDP) has announced the acquisition of High Grade Gas Service, which is headquartered in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. This transaction marks EDP’s first operation in the state, further expanding the company’s footprint into the Northeast.

A third-generation, family-run business, High Grade Gas Service was founded in 1957 and has been owned by the Aiken family for the entirety of its 65 years in business.

Legacy Energy Consulting announced it recently facilitated the successful sale of Reliance Propane Service, based in Oroville, California, to ThompsonGas LLC, headquartered in Frederick, Maryland. 

WASHINGTON (Nov. 15, 2022) — A new incentive program is available for manufactured housing retailers from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC). The new incentive program, the Manufactured Housing Retailer Incentive Program, encourages manufactured housing retailers to work with their clients to include clean, reliable, and efficient propane appliances in homes.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Nov. 11, 2022) — Blue Rhino announced another expansion of its home delivery service, this time to the Fort Myers, Florida, area. In addition to purchasing or exchanging for a ready-to-grill tank at any of the dozens of convenient stores that offer Blue Rhino propane, Fort Myers residents can now have a fresh, cleaned and leak-tested Blue Rhino tank or two delivered directly to their front door.

During the latest mid-month period, prices at Mont Belvieu, Texas, increased as we get closer to winter. The posted prices increased 3.5 cents/gal from October mid-month to November mid-month, while the spot prices increased 1.375 cents. Conway, Kansas, postings ended with a 3.05-cent increase and spots increased 0.75 cents over the month.

The United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) expects that low inventories of distillate fuels, which are primarily consumed as diesel fuel and heating oil, will lead to high prices through early 2023.

According to EIA’s November "Short-Term Energy Outlook" (STEO), diesel prices will remain higher than $5 per gallon the remainder of the year, and bills for homes that use heating oil will increase by 45% this winter season compared with last winter.

(Newport, New Hampshire) — Eastern Propane & Oil, a family-owned business since 1932 serving over 100,000 customers throughout New England, has added to the family with the recent acquisition of Goodrich Oil & Propane in Newport, New Hampshire.

Canada's primary underground propane inventories increased by 2.93% in November, according to the Canada Energy Regulator. The total represented a month-to-month increase of 53.9 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were lower, with 108.6 Mcm, or 5.42%, less product on hand.

(Nov. 3, 2022) — Cetane Associates LLC announced that Tevis Energy Inc., a Maryland corporation, has acquired certain assets related to the operations of Heaps Oil Company Inc., a full-service distillates delivery business located in Whiteford, Md. The transaction closed on Oct. 27, 2022.

(Nov. 2, 2022) – Rye Brook, New York-based Paraco Gas has entered into a strategic partnership with New York-based Thuesen Mechanical to deliver heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) services to customers in Westchester, New York and Fairfield, Connecticut. 

WYOMING, MINNESOTA (Nov. 2, 2022) — Lakes Gas, headquartered in Wyoming, Minnesota, announced it has acquired the propane operations of Hohl’s Propane in Baraboo, Wisconsin. This transaction is Lakes Gas’ third acquisition of 2022.

WASHINGTON (Nov. 2, 2022) — The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) is partnering with Colorado State University (CSU) and 2G Energy to examine decarbonized district energy systems with renewable propane-powered combined cooling heat and power (CCHP).

KENT, Conn. (Oct. 27, 2022) — Cetane Associates LLC announced that Dead River Company of South Portland, Maine, has acquired the full service propane and heating oil delivery business and HVAC business of Charlie Burnham Energy & Heating Service, based in Freeport, Maine. The transaction closed on Oct. 12, 2022.
