Alliance AutoGas attended the Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference on August 15th and 16th at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The 2023 Green Fleet Awards were announced and presented by the NAFA Fleet Management Association in conjunction with the conference. Two fleets featuring Alliance AutoGas technology and infrastructure won a top 50 Green Fleets placement at the ceremony.
Chesterfield County, Virginia, Alliance AutoGas customers since 2013, ranked 27th in the country for their sustainability efforts. With 64 propane buses and 42 bi-fuel propane autogas vehicles, Chesterfield County has proven its commitment to alternative fuels.
Jeff Jeter, director of fleet services for Chesterfield County, said, “The ultimate goal is to have every vehicle and our equipment running on alternative fuels and to be the cleanest running fleet in the nation. It’s something Chesterfield County Fleets is striving toward.” In addition to their Green Fleet Award, the organization was recognized for Best Fuel Technology Integration.
Blossman Gas, a founding member of Alliance AutoGas, also made the list, ranking 48th. Blossman Gas has over 75% of its propane fleet running on autogas. With 730 fleet vehicles converted, their fleet is significantly reducing its carbon footprint when compared to similarly sized fleets using traditional fuels such as gasoline and diesel.
In addition to the awards, Alliance AutoGas customer Davidson County Transportation exhibited at the event, showcasing a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD on the show floor. The vehicle was converted to run on propane with an Alliance AutoGas-engineered bi-fuel system.
When asked about the decision to convert to autogas, Michael Naglieri, fleet maintenance manager with Davidson County, said, “Using propane autogas is a solution that other fleet agencies can take advantage of right now. Being able to help the environment and increase fuel savings allows us to do many things we would otherwise not be able to do. Working with Alliance AutoGas has given us peace of mind that we are making a difference.”
