(Indianapolis, IN) October 19, 2016 — Six transit fleets including Alliance AutoGas partner, Van Go Transportation, of Richmond, Virginia, received the 2016 Top User of Propane Autogas Award from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) at the BusCon Expo in Indianapolis this month. The award celebrates and recognizes vehicle fleets that are creating healthier environments for passengers as well as cities, with clean, cost-effective, and domestically-produced propane autogas. Van Go Transportation’s general manager, Travis Snellings, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Van Go Transportation has been partnering with Alliance AutoGas and propane autogas consumers since 2012. Van Go Transportation’s Sid del Cardayre discussed why the company made the choice to upgrade to autogas. “At first it was an ethical and environmental question based on my desire to have a green company, back in 2012. With cleaner fuel for our vehicles, not only was it better for our environment, but the engines were going to break down a lot less often. Also, cleaner burning propane autogas provides less maintenance and a tremendous emission reduction, which exceeds all expectations.″
Van Go Transportation has served the Richmond, VA area for more than 25 years. Currently, its fleet consists of more than 70 vehicles, including 37 ambulatory vehicles and 35 wheelchair accessible vehicles. More than 50 of these vehicles are fueled by propane autogas. In 2015, Van Go Transportation used more than 140,000 gallons of propane to operate their fleets.
