Shawnee, Kan. (May 29, 2025) — Westmor Industries LLC recently hired Laura Lawrence as a territory manager for its truck and trailer division. In her new role, Lawrence will serve the propane and petroleum industries, providing bobtail, refined fuel truck and crane service truck expertise to customers.

Sacramento, Calif. (May 27, 2025) — The Western Propane Gas Association (WPGA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) have agreed to settlement terms in the case WPGA v. CARB in Fresno County Superior Court over the implementation of the Zero-Emission Forklift (ZEF) rulemaking. The rule would have banned the sale of all new propane-powered forklifts beginning as soon as 2026. The publishing of an advisory update on the rule on CARB’s website was the final step in negotiations between the two parties on the resolution of the suit.

Dover, Del. (May 28, 2025) — Chesapeake Utilities Corporation, a diversified energy delivery company, announced the appointment of Abhijit ("Abhi") Bhatwadekar as vice president and chief information officer (CIO), effective June 13.

Canada's primary underground propane inventories increased by 34.3% in May, according to the Canada Energy Regulator. The total represented a month-to-month increase of 136.8 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were lower, with 360.7 Mcm, or 40.3%, less product on hand.

Propane storages in the West started May higher at 412.6 Mcm, which corresponds to 2.599 MMbbl, the agency reported. From April to May, volumes increased by 121 Mcm, or 41.5%, and were 273.3 Mcm, or 39.8%, less the year prior's level of 685.9 Mcm.

Lee, MA (May 20, 2025) — Ray Murray, Inc. (RMI), a distributor of propane equipment, compressed gas, heating, hearth, and outdoor living products, has announced the acquisition of the assets of Teeco Products, Inc., a distributor of propane gas equipment serving the Western U.S. with locations in California, Washington and South Dakota. 

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) released a report on gasoline prices heading into Memorial Day weekend. Some of the report is published below:

Washington, DC (May 20, 2025) — Women in Propane has announced Jessica Balderston as the new co-host of its signature podcast, Through the Leadership Lens. Balderston brings industry insight and leadership experience to the role as the co-owner of Rural Computer Consultants and co-chair of Women in Propane’s Program & Events Committee. 

During the latest mid-month period, prices at Mont Belvieu, Texas, were mixed. The posted prices increased 5.084 cents/gal, from April mid-month to May mid-month, while the spot prices decreased 4 cents. Conway, Kansas, postings increased 11.334 cents/gal, and spots increased 9.5 cents over the month. 

Birmingham, Ala. (May 15, 2025) — Butane-Propane News (BPN) announced the opening of the 2025 BPN Industry Innovators contest.

Washington (May 12, 2025) — The US Department of Energy (DOE) announced in a news release the first step in a large deregulatory effort that proposes the elimination or reduction of 47 regulations that are "driving up costs and lowering quality of life for the American people." The DOE projects these deregulatory actions could save the American people an estimated $11 billion once finalized and cut more than 125,000 words from the Code of F

Montreal (May 14th, 2025) — Otodata announced the acquisition of Dunraven Systems’ Delta software platform. For over 20 years, Delta has been designing and developing advanced monitoring solutions through their software platform.

The Missouri Propane Education and Research Council (MOPERC) has approved a draft budget for the organization's fiscal year which begins July 1. The proposed budget is subject to public and industry comment for 30 days.
