Platform Fuels has appointed Steve Wambold chief executive officer. An active member of the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA), Wambold has led successful teams as chief executive officer (CEO) of Ferrellgas and Team Drive-Away and has become a sought-after consultant to business owners. During his nearly 20-year tenure with Ferrellgas, Wambold rose from a single branch manager to CEO. During his tenure, he grew propane-related EBITDA $150 million and had full P&L responsibility for the $2 billion company before he left in 2016. He oversaw more than 900 retail locations and 45,000 Blue Rhino selling sites as well as executing over 50 acquisitions. When Platform Fuels entered the propane industry in 2020 with its acquisition of six family-owned businesses, among those who noticed was Wambold. “I’m delighted to join the board of Platform Fuels. Platform has entered the propane space very strategically, with a singular focus on the future of the propane industry, and I am optimistic about the future of this company and the independent propane marketers it serves,” Wambold said.
