Raleigh, North Carolina — The Georgia Agricultural Commodity Commission for Propane (GACCP) has been officially renewed for another five years after an overwhelming majority vote by Georgia marketers.
Commission President Raleigh Garrett and the dedicated members of the commission are sincerely thanked for their hard work in facilitating the voting process, which concluded with an impressive 97% of ballots in favor of the commission’s continuation. John Jessup, president and CEO of the Southeast Propane Alliance, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We look forward to continuing to promote and grow the propane industry in Georgia!”
The renewal is part of a statutory requirement that mandates the GACCP to vote on its continuation every five years. Since its establishment, the GACCP has successfully funded programs focused on enhancing propane education, ensuring safety compliance, providing training and assisting low-income customers with rebates for energy-efficient appliances.
Key achievements of the Commission include:
- Issued 3,384 rebates for propane appliances across Georgia.
- Distributed a total of $612,900 in rebates.
- Recently doubled rebates for citizens affected by Hurricane Helene.
- Conducted over 200 classes, totaling nearly 2,000 students, on topics, such as basic operations, bobtail and gas check, led by the director of code compliance and education.
- Deployed mobile training units via the Southeast Propane Alliance Technical Education Center (SEPATEC) to provide customized training for dealers.
