West Palm Beach, FL (July 1, 2025) — Blue Peak Resources, a merger and acquisitions consulting firm, announces that Blue Flame Gas acquires Proctor Gas of Proctor, Vermont, in a strategic sale to the Hoosick Falls, New York-based company.
Proctor Gas has proudly served Addison, Rutland, Bennington and Windsor counties in Vermont since 1966, making it the longest-running propane gas company in the region. The company was founded by Match Taranovich, the son of immigrants, who saw an opportunity to build something lasting when he purchased the propane and appliance division of Proctor Coal Company from George D. Johnson.
At the time, Match was working as a sales manager for the coal company. With the support and encouragement of his wife, Ella, and their young son, Jimmy, he made the bold decision to branch out on his own. Together, they laid the foundation for what would become a trusted family business.
Match and Ella ran Proctor Gas side by side. While Match led operations and customer service, Ella managed the finances, all while working full-time elsewhere to help support the business. Jimmy eagerly pitched in after school, determined to be part of the company's future. Their shared dedication and hard work set a strong foundation for a business built on integrity, service and family values — principles that continue to guide Proctor Gas to this day.
“Selling my business was a deeply personal and emotional decision,” said Judy Taranovich, Proctor Gas. “I couldn't have asked for a better partner than the team at Blue Peak Resources throughout this process. I am incredibly grateful for their expertise, integrity and dedication; their guidance instilled confidence in me every step of the way, and I am thrilled with the outcome. Choosing to work with someone I trust made all the difference.”
Andrew Liporace, Blue Flame Gas Company, stated: “We are honored to be chosen to continue the stewardship of Proctor Gas. It will be a privilege to join the family that Judy has cultivated over the years. With our shared values, we look forward to continuing and growing together with the Proctor Gas family.”
“It has been an honor to represent Judy,” said John Armentano, Partner at Blue Peak Resources. "She has skillfully continued her late husband Jimmy's legacy while establishing her reputation in our industry. With many buyers to choose from, her decision to select Blue Flame was excellent. Andrew and the Liporace family's strong commitment to the communities they serve aligns perfectly with Judy's values.”
Blue Peak Resources acted as the facilitator and negotiator in the sale of Proctor Gas. The team provided financial valuations, prepared a business offering package for potential buyers and assisted in negotiations to finalize the deal terms.
