Propane fuel provider ARRO Autogas (Paso Robles, Calif.), in partnership with Expo Propane (Bellflower, Calif.), has opened the first public refueling station open 24 hours a day in the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) area. Located in Inglewood—six minutes from the main Century Boulevard entrance of LAX and near the 405 and 105 freeway corridors—the ARRO Autogas-branded station provides shuttles, ride share vans, and other alternative fuel autogas fleets in and around the airport with convenient, all-hours propane refueling. ARRO Autogas is a division of Delta Liquid Energy, a third-generation, family-owned and -operated propane marketer based in Paso Robles.
The new self-service station is accessible to Prokee holders at any time. Beginning in January, a full-time attendant will be on site every Saturday to fill barbecue cylinders, forklift cylinders, and recreational vehicle tanks. Expo Propane, which operates six CleanFUEL USA branded propane motor fuel stations in Southern California, owns the lease to the LAX-area property and provides the propane fuel and tank for the station. ARRO Autogas provides the fuel-dispensing equipment and the fuel management software, using the Prokee-controlled system. In addition, Expo Propane customers can now refuel at any of ARRO Autogas’ 16 stations throughout California using 24/7 Prokee access.
“LAX is such a major hub for California drivers, and there are so many propane vehicles that serve the airport,” said Ted Olsen, ARRO Autogas market manager. “Up until now, there has never been a twenty- four/seven propane autogas station to provide refueling services in this busy, high-traffic area. We saw the need and were glad to join forces with Expo Propane to open an accessible option for area drivers who choose to burn a cleaner fuel in their vehicles.”
“ARRO Autogas already has seven stations in the L.A. basin alone and was looking to us to help provide access to autogas closer to LAX,” added Steve Moore, director of propane autogas for Expo Propane. “Since Expo Propane had the existing lease on this property, it made sense to come together with ARRO Autogas on this project. Now, both of our companies’ propane fleet customers can access and benefit from the conveniently located station.”
