Bowdon, Ga. (February 20, 2019) — Blossman Gas, Inc., the largest privately held propane company in the United States, has acquired Southern LP Gas, Inc. of Bowdon, Georgia. Southern LP Gas, Inc. has been in business for nearly 35 years.
When asked about the decision to choose Blossman Gas for the sale, former president of Southern LP Gas, Inc., Paul Widener, said “We knew the organization as a competitor, because there was a location about a mile from our office. Over the years, there seemed to be a sense of integrity and professionalism. We also saw the longevity of their employees and felt there must be a good reason for their loyalty. Then, at the first meeting with Blossman, they shared their belief that employees are their greatest asset.” Widener also felt confidently that his customers' needs would continue to be met. “We are very thankful for all of our customers. Many of them are our closest friends, and we believe our customers' propane needs will still be taken care of in a prompt, secure, and reasonable way.”
The acquisition is a good fit for both companies, due to the similar company culture. “This is an exciting acquisition,” said Stuart Weidie, president and CEO of Blossman Gas. “We are pleased that after many years of quality service and growing an exemplary company, Southern LP Gas selected Blossman Gas to transition their business.”
