The National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) has announced the creation of the Renewable Fuels Committee (RFC). The RFC was established by NPGA’s executive committee and exists to foster discussions of renewable fuels at a national level.

According to NPGA’s website, the RFC “aims to oversee NPGA activity related to renewable fuels that will drive market growth and take steps toward lowering the carbon intensity of fuels delivered by propane marketers.” This includes prioritizing incentives, along with other advocacy activities.

“The RFC’s goal is to expand the use of renewable fuels in the propane industry. Renewable propane has a low carbon intensity. Federal legislative, federal regulatory, codes and standards, and state engagement subgroups have been organized under the RFC to focus on specific priorities,” explained Twana Aiken, senior manager, industry affairs for NPGA.

According to Aiken, the importance of the RFC lies in its advocacy priorities around renewable propane, which is a step toward a carbon-neutral future.

Jeff Stewart, president of Blue Star Gas and current NPGA chair, will serve as committee chair, while Chris Wagner, director of compliance and regulatory affairs at AmeriGas, will serve as vice chair.
