The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has launched a new webpage dedicated to showcasing propane’s capabilities in large and small port operations. The webpage is located at Propane.com/Ports.

On the webpage, visitors will find a variety of resources, infographics, and videos detailing propane’s key advantages. Notably, PERC shares emissions comparisons of propane equipment versus equipment powered by electricity, gasoline, and diesel. The comparisons include hydrocarbons, greenhouse gas, nitrogen oxide (NOx), and sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions. Additionally, an infographic on propane’s versatility outlines its ability to power forklifts, light- and medium-duty vehicles, terminal tractors, marine vessels, and commercial generators.

“Ports are a vital component of the nation’s economy but are also known for polluting the air and surrounding communities, which is why they need a clean, low-emissions energy source to power their operation,” said Matt McDonald, director of off-road business development at PERC. “Fortunately, propane provides a clean, versatile energy solution for a wide variety of port-side applications, helping them to meet increasingly stringent emissions regulations from CARB and the EPA.”

Propane provides key advantages for crews that diesel, electric, and gasoline-powered equipment can’t deliver. Resources on this webpage deep dive on propane equipment’s emission profile, performance capabilities, cost of ownership, safety, and more.
