DCP Midstream Partners’ new 200-MMcfd Lucerne 2 natural gas processing plant is now in service, increasing the company’s processing capacity in the Denver-Julesburg Basin to about 400 MMcfd. Lucerne 2 is the largest of a nine-plant system in the D-J Basin owned and operated by DCP.
With about 800 MMcfd of total processing capacity, the company has increased gathering and processing capacity in the basin by 80% over the last 24 months. The Lucerne 2 plant connects to the Front Range Pipeline for natural gas liquids takeaway to Mont Belvieu. DCP holds a one-third ownership interest in the pipeline.
“We are pleased to bring the Lucerne 2 plant online, meeting the growing processing needs of our customers in the prolific D-J Basin as we continue to stay in lock step with both current and future customer demand,” said Wouter van Kempen, DCP Midstream’s chairman and CEO. “The partnership now owns half of the DCP enterprise’s capacity in the D-J Basin, furthering the growth of our footprint in one of the top economic basins in the country.”
