According to Max Johnson, Crestwood’s Supply and Asset Manager for the Southeast, the expansion will significantly increase the capacity of the terminal and create more opportunities for marketers in the region to diversify their supply source. “Response from customers to our Rose Hill facility, which opened a year ago in May, has been stronger than anticipated,” said Johnson. “We are confident that investing in an expansion will also be well-received by marketers across the region.”

Johnson said the expansion will provide Crestwood customers with reliable supply closer to their customers. In addition, 17-minute load times creates potential for more loads per day in the peak season.

Currently the Rose Hill Rail Terminal has 240,000 gallons of on-site storage, a two-spot truck rack and five-spot rail rack. Johnson explained that the expansion will triple the capacity of the operation, and includes the following elements:

• The existing track will be extended and two new spurs will be added to provide on-site storage for 10 more cars
• A trackmobile will be used to move cars internally, providing daily access to 15 cars.
• Offloading of up to 15 cars/day
• Loading of up to 65 trucks/day, three times the current capacity

• Offloading of 5 cars in 3.5 – 4 hours (vapor included)

• Loading of 2 trucks in 15 – 17 minutes

• Creating surge capacity during peak winter months

Crestwood’s Rose Hill facility provides much-needed propane supply to North Carolina from multiple shale gas origins. Andy Ronald, vice president of commercial development and national accounts for Crestwood said, “Rose Hill’s strategic location allows us to provide peace of mind for marketers who serve customers in the eastern half of the state.” Expansion is scheduled for completion in September, and there are no expected disruptions to the current operations during the expansion.
