Alkane Truck Company completed D.O.T. compliance with their Class 7 Cab Over truck and immediately announced plans to manufacture a Humvee-type vehicle they have branded The Alkane Dominator. The first Alkane Dominators off the assembly line will be powered by Liquid Propane Gas (LPG), but will be available with an optional Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel system.

Alkane has immerged as a leader in the development of alternative-powered trucks and brings to the market a unique production and distribution model. Like their Class 7 Cab Over, the Alkane Dominator utilizes outsourced componentry and existing dealerships for distribution. The Alkane production model streamlines manufacturing and distribution reducing the associated costs and allows them to offer competitively priced vehicles in their respective markets.

Specifically designed for travel off-road and on-road, the super-rugged Alkane Dominator has a 12,800 GVW, 4-wheel drive and Allison automatic transmission. It has a high-powered, high-torque V8 engine, operating on liquid propane (LPG) or compressed natural gas (CNG). Both fuel types are inexpensive, clean burning, abundantly available and produced here in the US.

The Alkane Dominator is the same width and height as the H1 Hummer but is 2 feet longer. Designed to drive through high water as well as rugged terrain, the Alkane Dominator is suited to police and fire departments for use in rescue efforts during extreme weather conditions as well as off-road enthusiasts. Alkane expects the Alkane Dominator to be appealing to Homeland Security, federal, state and county governments for crowd control and emergency situations.

The Alkane Dominator could also be very popular with sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts for navigating through challenging and rugged terrain. Alkane’s U.S. engineering partners are developing ways to equip the Alkane Dominator with armor plating for police and military uses.

Offering the Alkane Dominator as an LPG or CNG-fueled vehicle is intended to support American fuel independence,” says Alkane Founder and CEO, Bob Smith. “We’re using America’s own domestically produced fuel while cleaning up the environment and air quality. America imports over 20 million barrels of foreign oil every day — most from the Middle East. Replacing gasoline or diesel-fueled vehicles with natural gas is our insurance against potential disruptions of oil supply from the Middle East. All our trucks are assembled in our Summerville, South Carolina facility providing high-paying technical jobs for American workers.”

Alkane Truck Company’s position on alternative fuels and desire to offer American jobs has brought attention from some dignitaries in South Carolina. The company has recently received endorsements from U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, U.S. Congressman Mark Sanford and Governor Nikki Haley. Also, Alkane has received endorsement letters from several Clean Cities Coalitions, which are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.
