MAKEEN Energy Acquires Gas Equipment Co.

Kosan Crisplant (Denmark), the daughter company of MAKEEN Energy, signed an agreement on March 6 to acquire Gas Equipment Co. (GEC; Dallas). Details of the transaction were not revealed, but closing is expected before the end of March. The acquisition is set to strengthen the global business and network of the group’s trading division, KC ProSupply.

USPS Contractor Chooses Propane For Parcel Deliveries

For the first time ever, some U.S. Postal Service packages are being delivered by emission-reducing propane autogas trucks. McAbee Trucking, a freight shipping and trucking company based in Blacksburg, S.C., purchased eight Ford F-750 delivery trucks fueled by propane autogas. The vehicles are used for contracted parcel delivery routes between USPS locations in North and South Carolina.

DOI Managed Leases Surpass 1 Bbbl for First Time in History

The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) said in February that more than 1 Bbbl of oil were produced in fiscal year 2019 from leases on federal and tribal lands and offshore areas, a historic milestone. The production level marked a more than 29% increase in production compared to the end of the previous administration when output totaled 808.7 MMbbl in 2016. Production was also up 122.5 MMbbl compared to 2018.
Meritage Doubles Powder River Basin Processing Capacity

Meritage Midstream Services II LLC (Denver) recently reported that its subsidiary, Thunder Creek Gas Services LLC, has completed commissioning of the Steamboat I processing plant in Converse County, Wyo., near the town of Douglas. The Steamboat plant more than doubles Meritage’s natural gas processing capacity in the Powder River Basin.
EIA Reports U.S. Emissions Flattening Through 2050

Under the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) Annual Energy Outlook 2020 reference case, which assumes no new laws or regulations, U.S. energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions decrease through the early 2030s before rising to 4.9 billion metric tons in 2050. If realized, U.S. energy-related CO2 emissions in 2050 would be 4% lower than 2019 levels. Changes in the fuel mix for electricity generation and increasing activity in the industrial and transportation sectors are the main drivers of EIA’s U.S. CO2 projections.

U.S. Oil, Natural Gas Output Rises with 10% Fewer Wells

While U.S. production of crude oil and natural gas was rising in 2018, the number of wells fell to 982,000, down from a peak of 1,035,000 in 2014, reports the Energy Information Administration (EIA). This production increase, despite the decline in well count, reflects advances in technology and drilling techniques. EIA’s updated U.S. Oil and Natural Gas Wells by Production Rate report shows how daily output rates of individual wells by state contributed to an increase in total crude oil and natural gas production in 2018.
New Mexico’s First Propane Buses Ready for School Year

In a partnership with the New Mexico Public Education Department, school districts in the state have purchased propane autogas buses for operation in the 2020-2021 school year. The 17 Blue Bird Vision models, the first propane buses to operate in the state, are going to the Los Lunas Public Schools, the Magdalena Municipal School District, and the Moriarty-Edgewood School District.

Canadian Propane Inventories Retreat 41.6% in January, Butane Falls

Canada’s primary underground propane inventories fell 41.6% in January 2020 to 445.1 Mcm, the equivalent of 2.8 MMbbl, according to the Canada Energy Regulator (CER). The draw represented a month-to-month loss of 317.7 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks stood 397.1 Mcm lower, down 47.2%.
LPG Dual-Fuel Engine Design Granted Preliminary Approval

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has granted an approval in principle to Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. (KHI) for its LPG as Fuel system design. The design is for a dual-fuel vessel propulsion engine capable of using both marine diesel oil and LPG as fuel. KHI maintains the system simultaneously reduces fuel consumption and enables the power plant to meet nitrogen oxide Tier 3 emissions regulations.

Natural Gas Exports Seen Nearly Doubling by 2021

(February 10, 2020) — The Energy Information Administration (EIA) forecasts that U.S. natural gas exports will exceed imports to the nation by an average of 7.3 Bcfd in 2020, a level 2.0 Bcfd higher than in 2019. And exports are seen surpassing imports by 8.9 Bcfd in 2021. Growth in net exports will be led primary by increases in LNG exports and pipeline exports to Mexico. Net natural gas exports more than doubled in 2019 compared to 2018, and EIA expects they will nearly double again by 2021 from 2019 levels.
