The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) and the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) will host a free propane autogas vehicle technician training course Oct. 18-20 at Lawson State Community College in Bessemer, Ala. The course is designed for professional, experienced automotive technicians and automotive trainers seeking to learn about propane autogas vehicles.

Recognizing a need for qualified technicians to adapt, service, and maintain autogas vehicles, the entry-level course covers topics that include propane characteristics, fuel systems, vehicle compatibility, system components, and safety. By the end of the three-day course, participants will have an in-depth understanding of servicing and maintaining propane vehicles. However, it is not an autogas conversion course, although it does cover conversion topics and procedures.

Propane marketers interested in attending are encouraged to bring an automotive technician. The training was developed by NAFTC and is funded by PERC. For additional information, call Micheal Smyth, NAFTC assistant director of curriculum development and training, at 304/293-7882 or visit propaneautogastraining.com.
