(August 13, 2019) — The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has determined that domestic manufacturers are materially injured by imports of steel propane cylinders from China and Thailand. The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has also determined the cylinders are sold in the U.S. at less than fair market value and are subsidized by the Chinese government.
USITC chairman David S. Johanson and commissioners Irving A. Williamson, Rhonda K. Schmidtlein, and Jason E. Kearns voted in the affirmative. Commissioner Meredith M. Broadbent did not participate in the investigations. As a result of the USITC determinations, DOC will issue antidumping and countervailing duty orders on imports of cylinders from China and antidumping duty orders on such imports from Thailand.
The commission’s public report, Steel Propane Cylinders from China and Thailand, will contain the views of commissioners and information developed during the investigations. The report will be available Aug. 26 and may be accessed on the USITC website at usitc.gov/ commission_publications_library.
