Toledo, Ohio (February 4, 2020) — Bergquist, Inc., an industry leader in wholesale propane equipment distribution, today announced the appointment of Lauren Clark as president of the company. In addition to this promotion, Bergquist also announced new roles for three other employees: Bob Barry, CFO; Joe Montroy, vice president of sales; and Scott Biggs, director of outside sales.
Formerly, as vice president of operations, Clark oversaw all accounting, IT and HR functions. Prior to her role within the company, Clark worked for a domestic third-party logistics provider at Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corp. Clark joined the family distribution business at Bergquist in 2009 and has been actively involved with the company’s continued growth over the past decade. In her new role, Clark is responsible for all day-to-day operations at Bergquist.
“Our former leadership helped transform Bergquist by making quality customer service our highest priority,” said Clark. “I will use my knowledge of operations and logistics management to further enhance and build upon the day-to-day experience our customers and internal employees have come to expect from our company.”
Clark’s father, former president Bob Barry, joined Bergquist in 1986 when his father-in-law, Larry Hinkley, purchased it and appointed him controller. Barry took over as president following Hinkley’s retirement in 1995. During his tenure, Bergquist has grown from a single, small distribution center to a large, national distributor of propane equipment with over 70 employees and six facilities.
“In my 25 years as president, I’ve made a commitment to providing exceptional customer service and the most innovative products,” said Barry. “I am confident Lauren has both the knowledge and ability to keep this business moving forward while staying true to those commitments.”
Barry is set to continue working for the family business as CFO.
In addition to the president and CFO transitions, Montroy has been appointed Bergquist’s vice president of sales after eight years as regional sales manager - north. His responsibilities include managing both the inside and outside sales teams as well as overall business development and customer support.
As director of outside sales, Biggs leads Bergquist’s team of qualified sales professionals committed to providing critical support to the company’s customers. Prior to his promotion, Biggs served as regional sales manager – south and was responsible for five area sales managers in the southern U.S. He started his career with the company as an inside sales representative in 1998.
“Our employees are dedicated to providing tremendous service to our loyal customers – they are the primary reason for Bergquist’s success,” said Clark. “As an industry leader, we recognize that change is necessary to stimulate growth and innovation. Leadership appreciates the efforts put forth by those within our company and trust them to lead us in that change.”
