Propane exports from the U.S. in December stood at 23,268,338 bbl, according to the Department of Commerce (DOC), 14.8%, or nearly 3 MMbbl, higher than the November total and up a steep 43.7%, or more than 7 MMbbl, from a year earlier when export volumes stood at 16,196,996 bbl. December propane imports totaled 5,078,134 bbl for a 29.3%, or 1,150,988 bbl, gain over November. For the year, imports advanced 14.3%, or by 635,692 bbl.
Butane exports, at 2,054,459 bbl, were down a sharp 35%, or 1,108,460 bbl, month over month, while year on year they rose 24.6%, or by 405,723 bbl. December’s 166,584 bbl in butane imports was also lower than November, and marked a 8.4%, or 15,286 bbl, decline. Compared to December 2014, imports were off 27.3%, or 62,672 bbl.
