Dead River Co. (South Portland, Maine) revealed Jan. 19 that its commitment to transport safety has resulted in yet another Grand Champion Fleet Safety Award from the Maine Motor Transport Association (MMTA).

The award, announced Jan. 5 during the MMTA’s virtual annual meeting, was presented to Dead River Co. by Tim Doyle, vice president of the MMTA.
The Grand Champion award is the “Highest safety honor presented to members of the Maine Motor Transport Association,” said Doyle, and it is awarded in two categories: for companies that drive less than 4 million miles annually and those that drive more than 4 million. Dead River Co. drives less than 4 million miles annually in the state of Maine.

The award is adjudicated by an independent panel comprising representatives from law enforcement, the insurance industry, and the Maine Department of Transportation office of safety.

“Judges look at the thoroughness and effectiveness of a company’s safety culture and its safety programs and protocols, as well as a company’s efforts to exceed minimum state and federal safety requirements,” said Levi Ross, manager of wholesale operations. “The entire Dead River Co. family is extremely proud of our drivers and transport team.”

Dead River Company received the award in 2016 as well.
