Feature Articles(April 12, 2017) By J.D. Buss . . . It’s not your parents’ — or grandparents’ —propane market.” We’ve heard and used that phrase many times in the past few years. Days of buying in the summer, seeing prices rise in winter, and the whole continental U. S. propane market hoping for a cold winter appear to be things of the past. What was the catalyst for shifting from these historical norms? One could say massive propane supply growth that was spurred by strong natural gas production was the beginning. That, however, only created the foundation for a massive market shift. The true item that has changed the landscape of the U.S. propane market is exports. Experts Note Confidentiality, Trust, Honesty Drive Acquisition Process
Dozens of retail propane companies are bought and sold every year, among them many small, independently owned Mom and Pops, but others are larger enterprises with wholesale operations, a truck fleet, and amply sized storages. The sales pace suggests the transactions are fairly quick and routine, but that is illusory. While some acquisitions take only a few months, many acquisitions are only finalized after a year or more of negotiations. Some companies start the planning process years in advance involving longtime top-to-bottom prepping by a company with the aim of elevating its value prior to offering itself for sale. There are, however, long-established practices that are important for both the buyer and seller to consider in an acquisition. One company, Propane Resources of Mission, Kan.,... -

Gatlinburg, TN (April 5, 2017) – Great Smoky Mountains National Park hosted a celebration yesterday to unveil two new propane fueling stations and six new propane‐fueled trucks at the Park Headquarters Maintenance Facility near Gatlinburg, Tenn. With the new pieces of alternative fuel equipment, the Smokies implemented a new facet of the park’s Climate Friendly Parks program through funding from a joint U.S. Departments of Interior (DOI) and Energy (DOE) initiative called the “Clean Cities National Park Initiative.” The new equipment helps the park leave a smaller carbon footprint. In partnership with its two neighboring DOE “Clean Cities” coalitions, the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition and the Land of Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition, the park installed two propane fueling systems and added 6 new pieces of... -

Trump Requests $11.6 Billion for Interior Department 2018 Budget
U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke has outlined that President Trump’s $11.6-billion 2017 budget blueprint request for the Department of the Interior meets the department’s core mission while also saving taxpayers $1.5 billion, or a 12% reduction, from the 2017 annualized continuing resolution level. The president’s budget prioritizes America’s energy security by increasing funding for programs that support responsible development of oil, natural gas, coal, and renewable energy on public lands and off-shore waters. The blueprint also sustains funding for the department’s collection and disbursement of about $10 billion annually for mineral development, an important source of revenue for the Treasury, states, and Indian mineral owners. The president’s budget directly supports funding for land management operations for the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife... -

Invest in Employee Development, Reap Rewards
… By Kelly Bosak When evaluating your business it is important to remember that people are your most important asset.
