September 2026 Canadian Propane Inventories Up from August

The September 2026 Canadian propane inventories increased by 12.6% from August, according to the Canada Energy Regulator. The total represented a month-to-month increase of 189.0 Mcm. Compared to a year earlier, stocks were higher, with 85.6 Mcm, or 5.4%, more product on hand.

September 2026 Canadian Propane Inventories: East & West

Propane storages in the West started September higher at 1237.2 Mcm, which corresponds to 7.794 MMbbl, the agency reported. From August to September, volumes increased by 153.1 Mcm, or 14.1%, and were 139.4 Mcm more the year prior’s level of 1097.8 Mcm.

Propane storages in the East started September higher at 447.5 Mcm, commensurate with 2.819 MMbbl. This gain put propane 35.9 Mcm, or 8.7%, higher for the month, with a decrease of 53.8 Mcm, or 10.7%, below a year earlier.

September 2026 Canadian Butane Inventories

Canadian butane inventories stood at 1294.0 Mcm at the beginning of September, for an increase of 92.4 Mcm, or 7.7%, from August. Unlike propane, the year-over-year comparison finds butane volumes to be lower than the prior year’s total, with inventories 177.7 Mcm, or 12.1%, below 2025.

Western butane supplies, at 773.3 Mcm, were higher by 30.7 Mcm, or 4.1%, from the previous months and were 114.5 Mcm, or 12.9%, less than last year. Eastern butane, at 520.7 Mcm, was 61.7 Mcm, or 13.4%, higher month over month, and totaled 63.2 Mcm, or 10.8%, below a year earlier.
