Trump Administration Issues Tariffs on Medium- & Heavy-Duty Trucks, Buses & Parts

The Trump Administration recently released plans to implement tariffs on medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses and related parts. 

The 25% rate for trucks and parts and the 10% rate for buses is set to take place Nov. 1.

In response, the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) released a “Fact Sheet” to help propane industry members navigate the changes. 

Per NPGA, covered items include “trucks with Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 5 metric tons; road tractors for semi-trailers (i.e. the front part of tractor trailers); and parts for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.”

Tanker trailers are not included in the tariffs, and buses (“[m]otor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver,” per the White House proclamation) will receive a 10% tariff.
