Pennsylvania Recruitment Program Gets $50,000 in PERC Funding

(September 9, 2019) — The Pennsylvania Propane Foundation has been awarded $50,000 by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) for its GeneratioNext Energy Pros initiative, a workforce development program designed to connect students and graduates of technical schools with potential employers in the propane industry. By connecting technical students and grads with viable career opportunities at the local level, the program is aimed at empowering the next generation of propane professionals and supports local employers in the Pennsylvania propane industry.

GeneratioNext Energy Pros includes a web platform where students and graduates can post their resumes and search for employers in their area. Propane companies can use generationextpropane.com to create company profiles, post career opportunities, and search for candidates.

The Pennsylvania Propane Foundation has partnered with ServicEdge, an energy industry team of consulting and marketing experts, to conduct student outreach sessions at technical schools to promote the propane industry as a viable career path, help students gain insight on current opinions about the industry, and provide industry-specific training.

GeneratioNext Energy Pros is one of 10 separate projects that will receive a total of $456,000 from PERC’s Workforce Recruitment Pilot Program to address industrywide challenges in recruiting drivers, technicians, and customer service representations.
