Derek Poe, Missouri Propane Safety Commission

MISSOURI (July 5, 2022) — The Missouri Propane Safety Commission (MPSC) announced that Derek Poe has been appointed executive director effective July 7, 2022. Poe has 15 years of experience in propane operations management with both Titan Propane and AmeriGas Propane successfully managing budgets exceeding $2 million.

He proposed and implemented the AmeriGas Area 28 Safety Committee. He has extensive industry experience serving on the boards of the Missouri Propane Safety Commission (MPSC), the Missouri Propane Gas Association (MPGA), where he is a past president, and the Missouri Propane Education & Research Council (MOPERC).

“We are excited to have Derek as a new leader to continue the progress of the Safety Commission since its formation over a decade ago,” said Larry Borts, chairman of the Missouri Propane Safety Commission. “Derek’s strong safety experience at AmeriGas and Titan combined with the relationships he has built working with Missouri’s propane retailers through many years on the boards of MPSC, MPGA and MOPERC make him a great leader for the commission.”

An assistant golf professional prior to joining the propane industry in 2006, Poe was a service technician for a year with Titan Propane before becoming a district manager for Titan in 2007, which was later acquired by AmeriGas. In 2020, he became an area manager for AmeriGas.

“I look forward to my new role leading the Missouri Propane Safety Commission,” Poe said. “Propane safety has been at the heart of my years in the propane industry. I look forward to this new role working with the propane retailers throughout the state of Missouri.”
