Missouri House Introduces Bill 579 To Address Autogas Taxation, Unattended Propane Refueling At Dispensing Stations
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (January 26, 2017) — In the Missouri first regular legislative session, a bill was filed by Rep. Craig Redmon, Missouri’s first attempt to allow unattended propane refueling for dispensing stations that have the new quick-connect nozzle. Under current law, the motor vehicle must have a state alternative fuel tax decal which requires an attendant to verify.
The proposed legislation would allow unattended fueling in this instance with the state road tax charged at the pump. Fleet operators who find it advantageous to purchase the decal could also dispense at unattended pumps without paying road tax if the account is set up to allow this. The bill would give more flexibility in making autogas fueling more accessible. The Missouri Propane Gas Commission will be asked to clarify its dispensing regulations to eliminate the dispensing training requirement for this application.
