DD Alexander Named NGPA Chair With Full Officer Bench for 2026-27

At the 2026 Annual & Mid-Year Board of Directors Meeting and Propane Days, the newest round of National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) officers took their seats for the coming year. DD Alexander, president of Global Gas, was named NPGA chair — the second woman in industry history to hold the title. Trent Hampton, CEO of Lakes Gas, assumed the role of chair elect, while Chad Kroenig, vice president, safety and commercial operations at Boehlke Bottled Gas Corp., became vice chair. Ray Galan, vice president and head of retail at Ferrellgas, cycled on as treasurer.

“I am very honored and humbled to be the chair of the National Propane Gas Association,” Alexander said. “So many fantastic leaders have come before me. Their passion and unwavering commitment is beyond belief. I have been fortunate to work with a few of the recent chairs: Denis Gagne, Bob Barry, Michelle Bimson Maggi, Jeff Stewart, Tom Van Buren and Mike Hopsicker. I owe them a debt of gratitude for showing me the way.”

As the second woman to hold the role of NPGA chair, Alexander said she hopes other women will see her and know they can do the same. “This industry has always been very good to me,” she explained.

Alexander has high hopes for the industry over the next year. One particular area of interest is the Federal Energy Choice Act, which she hopes the industry will be able to help get passed this year.

“We have done a lot of advocacy on the issue,” she said. “Our work on [Capitol] Hill is showing tremendous progress. We are waiting for a floor vote in the House and then it must go to the Senate. That would be a dream come true for me! By the end of 2027, I hope consumers can choose their preferred energy source and that we are no longer fighting ‘electrify everything’ policies at every turn. We have a great product that so many Americans depend on. I want to make sure we are able to continue to serve our communities to the fullest extent.”

As chair, Alexander brings a broad perspective to her new role. In her younger years, she started mowing grass, painting propane tanks, filling cylinders and even driving a bobtail at her father’s retail store. After getting a Master’s of Business Administration from Texas Christian University under her belt, she went back to the family business where she was involved in all aspects of the business like retail operations, transportation and logistics, propane supply, and propane equipment. In 1989, she decided to start her own propane supply business, Global Gas Inc.

“My hope is that my diversified experience will help me lead our industry for all participants,” she said.
