  • PERC Assessment Increase To Take Effect Nov. 1, 2016

    During its July meeting, the Propane Education & Council (PERC) approved an assessment increase from $0.004 to $0.0045 per gallon. The increase goes into effect Nov. 1, 2016. The additional revenue from the assessment increase is projected to be about $3 million. This will help fund programs in 2017, including the consumer education campaign, commercialization projects, and the Partnership with States Program.

  • Crestwood Services & NCPGA Announce Fund to Assist Victims of Hurricane Matthew

    Kansas City, MO (October 24, 2016) – Crestwood Services, the Supply & Logistics unit of Crestwood Equity Partners LP, recently announced the establishment of Propane Aid: North Carolina, a fund to assist victims of the flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Matthew. The fund, which will be managed by the North Carolina Propane Gas Association (NCPGA), will help consumers who rely on propane to heat their homes, as well as workers in the propane industry who were impacted by the storm and flooding. John Jessup, executive director of the NCPGA, said Crestwood donated $6,000, which is roughly the equivalent of a transport load of propane, to launch Propane Aid: North Carolina.   • World LPG Association Names Innovation Award Winners

    The World LPG Association (WLGPA) announced two winners of its Innovation Awards from the 2015 Global Technology Conference held in Singapore last year, and they are both from the U.S.: one for an LPG-powered micro combined cooling heating and power systems and the other for LPG direct injection engine research. The 2016 Global Technology Conference presentations will take place Nov. 15 as part of the World LPG Forum in Florence, Italy, and WLPGA managing director James Rockall will present the awards the following day.     WASHINGTON (October 19, 2016) – The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) announced its first annual Propane Leadership Award recipients today at GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Kentucky.   • PERC Awards 2016 Top User of Propane Autogas at BusCon

    (Indianapolis, IN) October 19, 2016 — Six transit fleets including Alliance AutoGas partner, Van Go Transportation, of Richmond, Virginia, received the 2016 Top User of Propane Autogas Award from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) at the BusCon Expo in Indianapolis this month.   • Clean Air Act Violation Creates Opportunity for Propane School Buses

    (WASHINGTON, D.C.) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Oct. 6, 2016, a settlement with Detroit Diesel Corp. that resolves alleged violations of the Clean Air Act for selling heavy-duty diesel engines that were not certified by EPA and did not meet applicable emission standards. Propane, however, has been designated as an alternative clean, abundant American energy source by the 1990 Clean Air Act. Under the settlement, Detroit Diesel will spend $14.5 million on projects to reduce nitrogen oxide and other pollutants, including replacing high-polluting diesel school buses and locomotive engines with models that meet current emissions standards including propane autogags.   • Energy Distribution Partners Welcomes General Manager and Operations Manager at CMP Energy

    (October 17, 2016) Chicago, Illinois-based Energy Distribution Partners (“EDP”) recently announced that Lori Murawski has joined the company as a General Manager for CMP Energy in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, and Robert (Bobby) Mitchell has joined EDP as Operations Manager at CMP Energy.   • Exports Become Wildest of Wild Cards Affecting Propane Prices

    By Pat Thornton … When domestic propane production began to increase in 2008, the United States started to rapidly become a net exporter of propane. As the capacity to export propane rose, we began to see exports reach new highs. By April of 2014, exports were going at a rate of 414,000 barrels per day and were up to 636,000 barrels per day by April 2015. The U.S. exported 886,000 barrels per day in February 2016, a new high that is more than eight times the export volume five years earlier, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
