    While all generations have similarities, significant differences define each one. The word generation (or a cohort in social science) signifies the entire body of individuals born and living at about the same time, most of whom are approximately the same age and share similar historical, cultural, and sociological references and experiences. These subcomponents of society also are identified as having common beliefs, ideas, preferences, problems, and attitudes that are used to define the traits that represent a generational group.   • Golf Fore Education Tournament To Benefit NPGF Scholarships

    (August 27, 2018) — The NPGF Scholarship Fund (NPGF/SF) and Scholarship Committee are inviting those attending the National Propane Gas Association’s (NPGA) fall board of directors meeting, to support the scholarship fund by taking part in the Trinity Containers 2018 Golf Fore Education tournament. The tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Wildcat Golf Club in Houston, prior to the NPGA board meeting. Players will receive a box lunch, refreshments, and many Greens Giveaways throughout the day. Greens fees and a cart are included, as well as bus transportation from the Four Seasons hotel to the golf course and back.   • Industry Veteran to Lead Workforce Development Efforts for Propane Industry

    After holding various positions at Ferrellgas over the past 20 years, most recently as vice president of safety, as well as numerous leadership roles in the propane industry, Randy Warner has been appointed by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) to lead workforce development efforts in the propane industry. As an independent contractor for PERC, he will work closely with the council and the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA), in addition to many more stakeholders in the industry, to improve workforce development efforts.   • MFA Oil Acquires Frazier Oil & LP Gas

    (August 20, 2018) — MFA Oil Co. (Columbia, Mo.), a farmer-owned energy supply cooperative, has acquired the propane and farm fuel operations of Frazier Oil & LP Gas Co. Inc., an independent retailer based in Gower, Mo. The deal, of which details were not released, closed Aug. 2.     Annual awards presented by local Better Business Bureaus (BBBs) may have different names, but they honor similar qualities. Each of the awards recognize businesses and nonprofits that operate in an ethical fashion, have a good reputation in their industry, and demonstrate a commitment to customers, employees, and the community they do business in. Each of the awards also requires an application process that is quite involved.     Propane isn’t just for home heating, and a propane marketer isn’t just someone who delivers fuel in the wintertime. Those are two messages spotlighted in summer events organized by three different propane marketers. These events included cookouts, demo days, an up-close display of a propane bobtail, free giveaways, a customer appreciation breakfast, and a charity golf tournament.   • Ferrellgas Completes Sale of Non-Core Business Assets

    Ferrellgas Partners LP (Overland Park, Kan.) said Aug. 1, 2018 it had divested its Bridger Environmental, Bridger Transportation, and Bridger Terminals businesses and its Blue Rhino Global Sourcing lines of business. Ferrellgas said the divestitures reflect the decision to focus on core retail propane distribution and Blue Rhino tank exchange operations. The transactions generated net proceeds of about $92 million, which are to be invested in the propane business. The Bridger sales include the company’s saltwater disposal operations, all assets associated with crude oil trucking, and two crude oil injection terminals. The assets have been sold to two subsidiaries controlled by Pilot Flying J (Knoxville, Tenn.). Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.     Former Propane Marketers Association of Kansas (PMAK) Executive Director Leone Elizabeth “Lee” Eisenhauer, of Linn Valley, Kansas, passed away at the age of 79, on Sunday July 15, 2018 at her home. (Pictured here on left at the 2017 Mid-States Propane Expo with Vickie Woodbury, PMAK executive assistant and editor of PMAK Propane News publication). Lee was born in Morrowville, Kansas on November 24, 1938 the daughter of Sylvester and Ilah Hanshaw Durst.     Meeting in Minneapolis in early July 2018, the 21-member Propane Education & Research Council gathered to approve some remaining 2018 budget items as well as finalize plans for the 2019 budget. Throughout the two-day meeting, council members and staff presented plans for implementing changes in various areas ranging from accounting practices to how PERC can best convey the benefits of propane to thought leaders and potential users in a variety of business segments.   • Missouri Funding Opportunity Up to $22,000/Unit To Replace Diesel School Buses

    (August 14, 2018) — The State of Missouri is requesting applications from schools and school fleet operators to replace old diesel buses. This funding opportunity is open to public and private schools and school districts and for-profit operators of school bus fleets, providing up to $22,000 for each vehicle replaced. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, which administers the program, anticipates 70-75 bus replacements statewide through this one-year cycle.The deadline for districts and school transportation providers to apply is Friday, September 14th. Applicants may apply for funding for up to 3 buses if replacing diesel with diesel; however, they can apply for funding for up to 10 buses if replacing diesel vehicles with propane, compressed natural gas (CNG), all-electric buses, or other clean-fuel alternatives.
