  • Additional Tariffs Would Hurt USA Oil and Gas Industry

(August 7, 2019) — The latest U.S. tariffs threatened against Chinese imports would hamper U.S. energy exports, hurt domestic energy security, and push China to import more oil and gas from countries like Iran and Russia, the American Petroleum Institute (API) argued at U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) hearings, as reported by S&P Global Platts. President Donald Trump has threatened to impose 25% tariffs on $300 billion worth of Chinese goods that have not been targeted so far, leaving room for an escalation of the trade dispute on both sides. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative held seven days of testimony in Washington, D.C. and heard testimony from more than 300 companies and trade organizations on the Section 301 tariffs. “China’s expected retaliation against U.S….

Running Michael Oil and Propane , the company her grandparents started in 1948 in Big Rapids, Mich., was not Gail Bailey’s original career path. “The goal was to go into accounting and get my license as a CPA. The closer I got to the end of the program, I realized that wasn’t the direction I wanted to go,” Bailey said. But, she decided to go ahead and finish her degree in accounting from Ferris State University and took a job in public accounting. • Rock Sampling Expediition Aboard Highland Eagle Vessel Shapes Line 5 Tunnel

(August 2, 2019) — U.S. imports of crude oil from members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in March 2019 totaled 1.5 MMbbld, their lowest level since March 1986, based on data in the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) Petroleum Supply Monthly report. U.S. crude imports from OPEC members have generally fallen over the previous decade as domestic oil production has increased, EIA comments. From the early 1980s through the late 2000s, OPEC member countries were the source of about half of all U.S. oil imports. In the past 10 years, however, total U.S. imports have fallen and OPEC’s share of those imports has decreased. Non-OPEC countries such as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia have made up larger shares of U.S. crude imports….
