  • First-Half Petroleum Product Exports Rise Year-Over-Year

(November 18, 2019) — In the first half of 2019, the U.S. exported 5.47 MMbbld of petroleum products, an increase of 19,000 bbld, or 0.3%, from the first half of 2018 and the slowest year-over-year growth rate for any half year in 13 years, reports the Energy Information Administration (EIA). Lower U.S. refinery runs in the first half of this year compared with the first half of last year, and slowing global economic growth that is limiting demand for petroleum products, likely contributed to fewer exports. In the first half of 2019, increased exports of propane and distillate offset decreased exports of all other petroleum products. Distillate remained the top petroleum product export by volume in the first half of this year, averaging 1.3 MMbbld,…

  • NPGA Leaders Rally Industry During Fall Meetings

The propane industry faces a clear and present danger from those who want to ban the use of fossil fuels, but it also has an opportunity to grow by positioning propane as a source of clean energy. Those messages were heard throughout the NPGA fall board of directors meeting and related committee meetings held Sept. 29 through Oct. 1. Among those rallying the industry were the association’s chairman, its current president and CEO, and his successor, who is scheduled to take the helm Oct. 28. They each addressed participants at the Oct. 1 board of directors meeting. First…

ATA’s new platform bolsters the federation’s already robust impaired-driving policies to deal specifically with marijuana, now that more than 93 million Americans live where the drug is legal for recreational use. Developed by ATA’s Controlled Substances and Driver Health and Wellness Working Group, the new policy and recommendations call for the government to maintain the right of employers to test for marijuana if they determine that its use could adversely affect safety.
