Juan Pena, director of education at North Carolina Technical Education Center, authored this article with the help of NCTEC�s knowledgeable group of instructors. Pena has served in his role for 16 months. The staff contributing to this article include David Donahue, director of code compliance and NCTEC travel trainer; Kenneth Melton, NCTEC lead instructor; Robert Moore, NCTEC instructor; Matt Leonard, SEPA director of communications and government relations; and Steve Milks, NCTEC student enrollment coordinator. The state-of-the-art training center at NCTEC offers a large, multipurpose classroom that seats 24 students; four individual labs to enhance learning and provide a unique training environment; and a �propane village� surrounding the center, which offers visual props and equipment that are used in training during the program.
