Delta Liquid Energy Celebrates 90 Years of Family-Owned Propane Service
Paso Robles, CA (Oct. 19, 2026) — Delta Liquid Energy (DLE) is celebrating 90 years in business, marking nearly a century of dependable propane service, family leadership, employee dedication and strong community relationships.

Founded in 1936 by Harry and Iva Platz, the company began as a small family business operated from their home and garage in Atascadero. From those modest beginnings, the business grew to include a pickup truck delivering 25-gallon cylinders of butane to local homes, along with sales of butane-powered appliances such as water heaters and cook stoves.
Over the decades, the business expanded into additional communities and service areas throughout California and Nevada. In 1987, San Luis Butane became Delta Liquid Energy, carrying the company into a new chapter while continuing the family legacy that started it all.
Today, Delta Liquid Energy remains family-owned and operated, serving residential, agricultural, commercial, forklift and autogas customers across California and Nevada. That legacy continues through multiple generations of the Platz family, including Frank Platz; his children, President Bill Platz and Cindy Belmont, vice president of administration; and fourth-generation family members Allison Platz-Velazquez, director of sales and marketing and Tricia Cardenaz, accounting administrator.

For Cindy Belmont, vice president of administration, the anniversary reflects generations of family involvement and a dedication to customers passed down through the business. “Reaching this 90-year milestone speaks volumes about our company’s longevity and the work ethic instilled in us,” said Belmont. “Dad (Frank Platz) worked six to seven days a week, including evenings, to ensure our customers were taken care of. Through his example, our family learned the true meaning of dedication and how hard work leads to success.”
As part of the milestone, Delta Liquid Energy hosted a 90th Anniversary Celebration on Aug. 29 at Atascadero Lake Park, bringing together approximately 150 attendees, including employees, family members, and friends for an afternoon of food, games, conversation and connection.

The event included recognition for employees with two decades or more of service. Delta Liquid Energy also presented an Exceptional Leader Award to Paso Robles branch manager Troy Mack and Lancaster branch manager Michael Shuman, honoring their leadership, dedication, and impact on their local teams.
Allison Platz-Velazquez credited employees, past and present, with building the company’s legacy. “They are the heart and soul of DLE,” said Platz-Velazquez.
For Delta Liquid Energy, the 90-year milestone is more than a look back at company history. It reflects the people, relationships and values that have carried the business from one pickup truck in Atascadero to the company it is today.
Reflecting on the decades of experience represented across DLE’s management team, Platz-Velazquez expressed excitement about the company’s future: “What else can we accomplish?”

As Delta Liquid Energy looks ahead, the company remains committed to providing safe, reliable and courteous propane service while continuing to support the homes, farms, businesses and communities it serves.
