National Clean Energy Week (NCEW) has announced its first round of confirmed congressional speakers for the 2020 Policy Makers Symposium, which goes virtual this year and expands to an entire week. U.S. Senators Mike Braun (R-IN) and Chris Coons (D-DE), and Congressmen Sean Casten (D-IL), John Curtis (R-UT), and Paul Tonko (D-NY) will deliver keynote addresses during the week’s programming, set for Sept. 21-25.

As strong supporters of clean energy and conservation, Braun and Coons partnered together in 2019 to establish the Senate Climate Solutions Caucus, the first-ever bipartisan caucus aimed at breaking through partisan gridlock on climate-related issues. The Caucus now has 12 U. S. Senators participating representing all regions of the country.

In the House chamber, Tonko serves as chairman of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on the Environment and Climate Change. As steadfast advocates for clean energy technologies, Curtis has authored legislation that creates an energy storage investment tax credit and Casten is a member of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.

This year’s NCEW will celebrate how clean energy technologies and clean energy jobs bring tremendous opportunity to a nation battered by unprecedented economic disruption. “Clean Energy Solutions for a Stronger America” reflects the critical need for clean energy to help return America to the prosperity it enjoyed just a year ago, in a way that supports sustainable industries, accelerates job growth, and fosters a cleaner environment.

“Senators Braun and Coons, Chairman Tonko and Congressmen Casten and Curtis are an impressive group of congressional speakers who exemplify the kind of bipartisanship spirit and can-do attitude that’s necessary to address our country’s energy and climate challenges, and we’re thrilled to have them join this year’s Policy Makers Symposium,” said NCEW chair and Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) executive director Heather Reams. “Prior to the pandemic, America’s clean energy sector was thriving in communities across the United States, responsible for thousands of good-paying jobs and strong regional economies. Working together, lawmakers can help rebuild this industry and promote a cleaner environment. In the coming weeks, the NCEW Steering Committee looks forward to announcing additional top-level speakers who will continue an important dialogue about clean energy solutions during this year’s Symposium.”

NCEW 2020 promises a similarly inspiring lineup, plus panel discussions led by some of the nation’s clean energy leaders and networking opportunities to virtually connect and collaborate with clean energy thought leaders across America.
